Pet Monkey Anyone?

Hello everyone!!!

This week was wonderful just like always!

Our president and his wife came to the house for interviews and inspections this week.  Stressful but soo awesome.

So we had a great activity at the chruch this week. It was culture night of Cabo Verde.  People made dishes, we watched native dances, and of course we had a little mini history class on what has happened in the cape verde and what it has become. It was super fun to see all the great dances and foods. It was a blast! I learned this week that the creole from Cape Verde came from the slaves that worked for the portuguese. They didnt want the portuguese to understand what they were saying and so they made up this strange mix between port, and an african language.

This week we found 2 poeple that wanted to be taught and baptized! It was seriously a miracle. A, we met at a FHE. The whole time members would come up and tell us that she wanted to get baptized, so we marked a day to talk with her later in the week.  When we went back to her house we taught the first lesson to her and her sister. The spirit was so strong and I was super excited to ask her to be baptized. When the time came, Sis Lima asked if they recieved an answer to thier prayers.., "YES!" .... ok so will you prepare for the 8 of Nov? "Yes." Haha it was great to see the excitement in her. We are really looking forward to working with her.

The second person is I. She was a street contact that we made, and we finally found her in her home. As we sat down and began to teach and talk, she expressed how confused she was with all of the churches and she feels like all of the other churches talk about God but they arent really close to God. We encouraged and challanged her to pray and really seek the Lords help in her search for the truth. She said that if she knew it was true she would follow everything and be baptized. We were so happy walking out of that house. It was a true blessing to find her and be there to help her find what she wants.

Overall the week was great. We are really looking forward to continue with these two and to full fill the Lords work.

Something awesome that happened this week, we were passing by our recent converts house to go to a family night. As we walked down the road I saw this boy playing and messing around with this monkey..... so I went over to check it out. He told me that the monkey didn't bite (lies. monkeys always bite) and handed me the chain attached to the monkey. By this time my comp and ordered me to take out the camera and she took photos. It was alll super fun until the thing decided to jump up onto me. I got a little freaked out. And so it jumped backed down and tried to run away and I quickly handed the chain back to the kid. It was a little too much for me to handle. Good Memories though.

Love you all,

Bugs Out - Flood In

Baptism this week

 Flooded balcony

Bed bug update just for mom LOL:
Don't worry we called the night we figured out that we had them. They got people over to spray and everything and durring this, my comp and I slept in a seperate room with different mats. I also went to the doctor to get medicine to make sure I didn't have anything. The bites are fading and practically gone, and I am now sleeping peacefully at night.

Weekly letter:
I love the mission. There are so many ups, downs, twists and turns but they are all worth every moment.
In the past two weeks our house has flooded in the kitchen, we had some cockroaches hanging out in the house, we had a leak in the bathroom, and just yesterday our whole house flooded with water from a pipe burst while we were watching conference. The adventure goes on.
But, this week we did have baptism! J, is a very prepared young woman. She has been talking with the missionaries for a couple weeks now but has kept all the commandments to be worthy of baptism. One day she even missed the car to pick up investigators on sunday and so she walked uphill in the hot humidity for 30 minutes just to hear conference. She is so wonderful.
We have really been focussing on the atonement with our less actives and trying to help them understand a little better the sacrifice that Christ really did for them individually. We have had some really great lessons filled with the spirit of the Lord. I have had wonderful opportunities to study and pray about the atonement and I have felt the power and truth from our Lord and Savior of how merciful He is and how much he really loves us. I hope that my testimony can be of help to others along with the Spirit. I have such a desire to help these children of God understand and feel that God really loves them and that the Son of God suffered for them. That He knows them.
We are preparing two more people for baptism. T and M. They both have the knowledge but we are trying to help them gain a testimony for themselves. They are so close to being completely ready.
So the flood story is a great one. We went up to the church to watch conference and there was no leak at all. Right after conference ended another member came running up to church telling us that water was coming out of our house. The sister training leader and I ran down to our house with our bags in our flats (everyone we passed laughed and told us good work and to keep going). As we came around the corner were our house was we saw the street below wet and water running from the balcany into the street. We ran up the stairs and what we saw first was the first picture. 2 inches of water. We threw our shoes off and went over to open our house door. As we did more water spilled out. Our WHOLE house had at least  an inch of water. The kitchen sink pipe blew and there was a stream of water pouring out onto the floor. We turned the water off and started to look around. Nothing was damaged, so we grabbed some brooms and started sweeping out all the water. It took a good 2 hours but we got it all out, and the floors were once again dry. (In the middle of all of this a man and his kid came over and took a shower in the flood run-off from the balcany. Haha! Glad we could help someone out). Ill get more pictures out next week.
Well I hope your lives were a little calmer than mine this week. I wish you all the very best! I love you!

Bed Bugs & Back in Fogo!

I love the area and my comp who is so kind and patiente with my sketchy portugues. Even though this is the hottest area of the mission, I love it so much. All of those years playing soccer on turf in the middle of the day in summer really helped prepare me.
We have a lot of rescue work to do here. Pretty  much everyone is less active so we have decided to work on that this month. My comp is from Brazil and has one less trasfer than me, we really like working with one another. We are good friends.
Man when I got to the house here mom, it was super dirty. But after a week and some hard work we got the house super clean. I now am excited to come home at nights to relax.
P.S. I'm sorry for all the times I ever left a mess and you had to clean it up. I actually understand why you were always telling us to pick up our stuff and telling us if you clean it once do it right so that you don't have to do it again. Haha. Patience.  Our pool of investigators are great. We have a baptism ready for next week and should have two more the week after that. Things are going well here.
Love you so much mom!

FREAK!!! Kimball looks SO GOOD. The girls are going to be going at him. Watch him close dad.Watch him close.
Thanks so much for the email. I will be hearing conf next week cause of the time difference. I am super excited though.
So I did't tell mom cause I dont want her freaking out... keep it quiet, but I deffs had bed bugs in my bed here. It is super uncomfortable with all the bites but I think we finally got rid of them yesterday. Man they are not fun.  But it will be  a great story later on.
The ward here is great we have a lot of less actives in the ward so we are going to focus on that this month. Any tips or advice from the pro?
Thanks for the pictures and I love you so much!!!! Keep up the hard work dad. I love you!

Well yesterday was transfers.

I got a call from President later that night and he told me I would be leaving Boa Vista and Sis Y, that I would be going to Sao FIlipe Fogo!!! Im going back to fogo to work in a city super close to my last area! I cant wait to work here. Although this area is a little more humid and hot.

I told sister Y to send me pics of the wedding and baptism of I and N. I'll get those out when I receive them.

My new companion, SIs Lima, is from Brazil and she has one less transfer than I do. She has been here for 2 transfers and so Im excited to help her continue the work.

This last week was a real testimony builder for me. The Lord kept putting people in our paths that were ready to hear the message of the restoration. We had a really good inventory to be working from and so im excited for sis yeater to continue that with her new comp.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve a mission. I know the Lord watches us and gives us what we need to learn and to succeed.

I love you all, Ill have a better weekly next week.
